Scottish Rite
The Scottish Rite continues from the 4th to the 33rd degree. York Rite

Historical Membership
Freemasonry's roster of historical members is remarkable in its concentration of political, military, and intellectual power:
- American Founding Fathers: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Paul Revere, John Hancock, and a significant proportion of the signatories to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were Freemasons. Washington was inaugurated wearing Masonic regalia.

- European royalty and heads of state: King Edward VII, King George VI, and numerous heads of European governments have held Masonic membership.
The political implication of this network — influential men in positions of law, military command, and executive power, bound by secret oaths of mutual loyalty and obligation — is a central concern of researchers investigating elite coordination. Connections to Intelligence Services
The overlap between Freemasonry and state intelligence apparatus is documented and significant:
- J. Edgar Hoover, the founding Director of the FBI, was a 33rd-degree Scottish Rite Mason. His use of the Bureau for political surveillance and manipulation (later documented through COINTELPRO) occurred throughout his Masonic membership.

Propaganda Due (P2)
The most fully documented case of a Masonic lodge being used as a covert power network is Propaganda Due, or P2, an Italian lodge operating under the Grand Orient of Italy. P2's Grand Master, Licio Gelli, was found to have coordinated a network implicated in:
