The Pilgrim Society is an Anglo-American elite networking organisation founded in 1901, with branches in London and New York. Mainstream accounts describe it as a body dedicated to promoting friendship and mutual understanding between the United States and Great Britain. Researchers including Fritz Springmeier — in his work Bloodlines of the Illuminati — identify it as a key operational cover for the upper echelons of the Illuminati network, with membership drawn from the highest levels of banking, intelligence, aristocracy, and political life. According to Springmeier, the Pilgrim Society functions as the formal meeting structure for the 6th degree of the Illuminati hierarchy — placing it above the better-known Round Table Groups but below the innermost ruling councils.
Foundation and Official Purpose
The Pilgrim Society was established in 1901, the year of Queen Victoria's death and the accession of Edward VII — a moment of significant political transition in the British Empire. Two chapters were formed almost simultaneously: the Pilgrims of Great Britain (London) and the Pilgrims of the United States (New York). Each holds formal dinners to welcome heads of state, ambassadors, and senior figures passing between the two countries.
The stated mission — the promotion of mutual understanding between the United States and the British Commonwealth — is deliberately broad and largely ceremonial in public presentation. As Springmeier notes, this mirrors the stated purpose of other organisations alleged to serve as Illuminati cover groups: vague enough to be unassailable, prestigious enough to attract the right membership, and exclusive enough to keep the wrong people out.
The society does not publish full membership lists. Its dinners are not open to the public, and its internal proceedings are rarely reported in mainstream media. This opacity, researchers argue, is not accidental.
Astor Family Involvement
One of the most frequently cited indicators of the Pilgrim Society's alleged deeper function is the prominent involvement of the Astor family — whom Springmeier identifies as one of the thirteen primary Illuminati bloodlines.
Multiple Astor family members appear in documented Pilgrim Society membership records:
- David Astor — newspaper proprietor and editor of The Observer for nearly thirty years; son of the famous Nancy Astor.
- John Jacob Astor VIII — senior British banker and landowner; a member of the House of Lords.
- William Waldorf Astor III — 3rd Viscount Astor; son of Nancy Astor, the first woman to take a seat in the British Parliament.
- Baron Astor of Hever — served as President of the London branch of the Pilgrim Society during the 1970s.
Springmeier interprets the Astor family's recurring leadership roles within the Pilgrim Society as consistent with their alleged position near the top of the Illuminati's operational structure. In his framework, families at the 6th degree of the hierarchy would naturally preside over an organisation functioning at that level. The Astors' deep ties to both Rothschild banking networks and British aristocracy make them a connecting node between American finance and British royal power — precisely the axis the Pilgrim Society formally represents.
Alleged Hidden Function
According to Fritz Springmeier's research into Illuminati hierarchical structure, the degree system works roughly as follows:
- The 4th degree of operational cover is provided by the Round Table Groups — specifically the Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA, also known as Chatham House) in Britain, and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in the United States.
- Above these sits the 5th degree layer, involving bodies such as the Bilderberg Group and the Trilateral Commission.
- The 6th degree — according to Springmeier — is where the Pilgrim Society operates. At this level, members are described as Princes of the Illuminati, holding authority over the lower-degree cover organisations.
- Above the 6th degree are the innermost councils, sometimes associated with the Committee of 300 and the ultimate ruling body of thirteen families.
In this reading, CFR and RIIA membership is relatively broad — thousands of members — while the Pilgrim Society is deliberately small, highly curated, and almost unknown to the general public. The deliberate obscurity of the Pilgrim Society, compared to the more visible CFR or Bilderberg Group, is itself cited as evidence of its higher position in the hierarchy: organisations closer to the core are less visible, not more.
Some researchers also point to the Pilgrim Society's founding year — 1901 — as significant. This was shortly after the establishment of the Rhodes Scholarship programme (1902) and Cecil Rhodes' Round Table movement, suggesting coordinated infrastructure-building across multiple levels of the alleged network at the turn of the twentieth century.
