Klaus Schwab
Klaus Schwab (born 30 March 1938, Ravensburg, Germany) is a German engineer, economist, and author best known as the founder and long-serving executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Geneva-based organisation that hosts the annual gathering of global political, financial, and corporate elites in Davos, Switzerland. Schwab is widely regarded as one of the most influential architects of the contemporary technocratic agenda, having articulated and promoted a vision of global governance, economic restructuring, and human-technology integration that he terms the Fourth Industrial Revolution and, more recently, the Great Reset.
Critics and independent researchers regard Schwab not merely as a conference organiser or economic theorist but as a central coordinating figure in a broader agenda to restructure global society — concentrating power in unelected supranational institutions, merging biological and digital systems through transhumanist technology, and eliminating national sovereignty in favour of a centralised world governance model. His own published statements, WEF white papers, and the documented activities of WEF-affiliated institutions provide substantial primary source material for these assessments.
Background and Education
Schwab was born in Ravensburg, Germany in 1938, the son of Eugen Wilhelm Schwab, a factory director who managed the Swiss engineering firm Escher Wyss AG's German operations during World War II. Escher Wyss has been documented as a company that used forced labour during the war and was involved in manufacturing for the Nazi regime, including work on uranium enrichment centrifuges relevant to atomic weapons development. Some researchers, including investigative journalist Johnny Vedmore, have examined Schwab's family background in this context and its potential bearing on the ideological orientation of the WEF's agenda.
Schwab holds a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Fribourg, a Doctorate in Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), and a Master of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. At Harvard, he studied under Henry Kissinger, a relationship Schwab has publicly acknowledged and described as formative. Kissinger, a long-standing figure in CFR and Bilderberg circles, is himself regarded by many researchers as a key operative of the New World Order agenda.
The World Economic Forum
Schwab founded the European Management Forum in 1971, originally as a meeting for European business executives to discuss management practices. The organisation was renamed the World Economic Forum in 1987 and expanded dramatically in scope and ambition, transitioning from a business forum into what Schwab himself has described as a platform for public-private partnership — a model in which multinational corporations, governments, international institutions, and civil society organisations collaborate under WEF facilitation to shape global policy.
The WEF's annual meeting at Davos has become one of the most symbolically significant gatherings of global power, attended by heads of state, central bank governors, chief executives of major multinational corporations, senior officials from the United Nations, WHO, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank, as well as prominent figures from media, academia, and civil society. Critics note that decisions made or consensus formed at Davos meetings frequently precede and appear to shape subsequent policy developments at national and international levels — despite the WEF having no formal democratic mandate or accountability.
Funding and Membership
The WEF is funded primarily through membership fees paid by its corporate partners — a roster of approximately 1,000 of the world's largest and most powerful companies, which the WEF designates as Strategic Partners and Industry Partners. These include major financial institutions, technology companies, pharmaceutical corporations, energy companies, and media conglomerates. Critics argue that this funding model creates a structural alignment between the WEF's stated policy goals and the commercial interests of its corporate members, raising serious questions about whose agenda the WEF actually advances.
See World Economic Forum for a full analysis of structure, funding, and documented policy influence.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution
In 2016, Schwab published The Fourth Industrial Revolution, in which he described an ongoing technological transformation characterised by the convergence of physical, digital, and biological technologies. Schwab argued that this revolution is fundamentally different from previous industrial transitions in that it does not merely change what humans do or how they do it, but potentially who humans are — altering human identity, cognition, and biology through integration with digital and nanotechnological systems.
Key technologies Schwab identifies as central to the Fourth Industrial Revolution include:
- Artificial Intelligence and machine learning
- Robotics and autonomous systems
- The Internet of Things (IoT) and, by extension, the Internet of Bodies
- Nanotechnology and nanomaterials
- Biotechnology and genetic engineering, including CRISPR
- Brain-computer interfaces and neural technologies
- Quantum computing and advanced materials
- Blockchain and digital currencies
Of particular significance to researchers examining the Transhumanist Agenda is Schwab's explicit framing of the Fourth Industrial Revolution as involving the physical merging of human biology with technology. In the book, Schwab writes of technologies that will lead to implantable mobile phones, reengineering of human memory and cognitive function, and devices that will be implanted in our brains or on our skin. He frames these developments in broadly positive terms — as opportunities for human enhancement and improved quality of life.
Critics argue that Schwab's framing systematically obscures the coercive, surveillance, and control dimensions of the technologies he describes, presenting what amount to mechanisms of unprecedented biosurveillance and human modification as benign or inevitable progress.

The Great Reset
In June 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Schwab and the WEF launched the Great Reset initiative — a comprehensive proposal to restructure the global economy, governance systems, and social contracts in the aftermath of the pandemic. Schwab co-authored a book titled COVID-19: The Great Reset (2020) with Thierry Malleret, arguing that the pandemic represented a rare window of opportunity to accelerate fundamental transformation of global systems.
The Great Reset agenda as articulated by Schwab and the WEF encompasses:
- Restructuring of capitalism toward what Schwab calls stakeholder capitalism — a model in which corporations are accountable not only to shareholders but to a broader set of stakeholders including governments, NGOs, and supranational bodies, effectively increasing corporate-governmental integration
- Acceleration of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, including digital identity systems, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and surveillance infrastructure
- A green economic transition aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and net-zero carbon commitments
- Global health governance reforms concentrating authority in institutions such as the World Health Organization
- Redesign of social safety nets and labour markets in anticipation of automation-driven unemployment
The phrase associated with the Great Reset that attracted the most public attention was the slogan, attributed to WEF publications: "You will own nothing, and you will be happy." This phrase, which appeared in a 2016 WEF promotional video predicting life in 2030, became a rallying point for critics who saw it as an unusually candid statement of the agenda's ultimate direction — the elimination of private property and individual economic sovereignty in favour of a managed, subscription-based or state-allocated system of resource access.

Young Global Leaders Programme
One of the most significant and frequently cited aspects of Schwab's influence is the WEF's Young Global Leaders (YGL) programme — formerly known as the Global Leaders for Tomorrow programme, established in 1992. The programme selects and cultivates promising individuals from politics, business, media, civil society, and academia, providing them with access to WEF networks, training, and platforms in exchange for alignment with WEF priorities and values.
Schwab himself has made remarkable statements about the programme's reach and influence. In a 2017 interview with a Canadian television channel, he stated:
- "I have to say, when I mention now names, like Mrs Merkel, even Vladimir Putin, and so on, they all have been Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum. But what we are really proud of now with the Young Global Forum is that we penetrate the cabinets. So yesterday I was at a reception for Prime Minister Trudeau, and I know that more than half of his cabinet are actually Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum."
This statement — made by Schwab himself — is frequently cited as an unusually candid admission of the programme's function as a mechanism for placing WEF-aligned individuals in positions of governmental power across multiple countries. Notable alumni of the YGL programme include:
- Justin Trudeau — Prime Minister of Canada
- Jacinda Ardern — former Prime Minister of New Zealand
- Emmanuel Macron — President of France
- Tony Blair — former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
- Bill Gates — co-founder of Microsoft and major global health funder
- Jeff Bezos — founder of Amazon
- Mark Zuckerberg — founder of Facebook/Meta
- Yuval Noah Harari — author and WEF adviser
- Peter Buttigieg — US Secretary of Transportation
Researchers note that the concentration of YGL alumni in simultaneous leadership positions across Western governments during the COVID-19 pandemic — a period characterised by unusually coordinated policy responses including vaccine mandates, digital health passes, and restrictions on assembly and speech — warrants serious scrutiny of the programme's function as a coordination mechanism.

Relationship to Other Elites and Organisations
Schwab's network of relationships spans virtually every major institution of global power:
- Bilderberg Group — Schwab has attended and addressed Bilderberg meetings, and the WEF and Bilderberg networks overlap substantially in membership.
- Club of Rome — The Club of Rome's focus on global governance and population management aligns closely with WEF agenda frameworks.
- Council on Foreign Relations — CFR members feature prominently in WEF leadership and advisory structures.
- United Nations — The WEF signed a Strategic Partnership Framework with the UN in 2019, formalising collaboration on the Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030.
- Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation — Gates Foundation priorities in global health, digital identity, and vaccination programmes align closely with WEF initiatives in these areas.
- DARPA and defence sector — Several WEF technology initiative partners include major US defence contractors, and WEF publications on the Fourth Industrial Revolution draw explicitly on DARPA-funded research trajectories.
Influence on COVID-19 Policy
The COVID-19 pandemic and the policy responses to it are regarded by many researchers as either a manifestation of, or a significant accelerant for, the Great Reset agenda. Key observations include:
- The WEF co-sponsored Event 201 in October 2019 — a pandemic simulation exercise held in partnership with Johns Hopkins University and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation — which modelled the global response to a novel coronavirus pandemic just weeks before the emergence of COVID-19
- WEF-affiliated governments implemented unusually coordinated policy responses including simultaneous lockdowns, vaccine mandates, digital health certification (vaccine passport) systems, and accelerated deployment of digital payment and identity infrastructure
- The pandemic period saw rapid expansion of digital surveillance infrastructure across WEF member nations
- Emergency authorisation and rollout of mRNA vaccine platforms developed with technologies advanced through WEF partner institutions was framed explicitly by Schwab as part of the Great Reset's biotechnological dimension

Schwab on Human-Technology Fusion
Some of Schwab's most striking published statements concern the future of human identity in the context of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. In various publications and public addresses, Schwab has articulated positions that align closely with transhumanist philosophy:
- He has written of the coming era in which implantable chips will allow humans to communicate directly with digital systems and merge with the digital world
- He has described the potential for technologies to allow authorities to read thoughts and assess cognitive and emotional states
- He has framed the modification of human biology through technology as an extension of previous human tool use, positioning resistance to such modification as irrational conservatism
For researchers investigating the Intra-Body Nano Network, Remote Neural Monitoring, and the broader landscape of covert human modification, Schwab's public statements provide a striking degree of alignment between openly stated elite ambitions and the technologies that Targeted Individuals and independent researchers report being deployed covertly against populations.
Criticism and Opposition
Schwab and the WEF have attracted significant and growing opposition from across the political spectrum:
- Sovereignty concerns — Critics including Emanuel Pastreich and numerous national politicians argue that the WEF's model of public-private governance constitutes an assault on democratic national sovereignty, replacing elected accountability with unelected corporate-technocratic management.
- Property and liberty — The Great Reset's framing of a post-ownership economy has alarmed commentators concerned about the elimination of private property rights and economic independence.
- Transhumanist ethics — Religious communities, bioethicists, and civil liberties advocates have raised fundamental objections to the WEF's enthusiastic promotion of human-technology merger without meaningful ethical deliberation or public consent.
- Conflict of interest — The WEF's funding by the very corporations whose interests its policies serve represents a structural conflict of interest that undermines any claim to neutrality or public benefit.
- Lack of democratic mandate — No electorate has voted for Schwab, the WEF, or the agenda it promotes. The increasing influence of WEF-aligned individuals in elected office raises questions about the integrity of democratic processes.
